Mulled Wine Recipe

Mulled Wine Recipe from


1 pint water

3 inch piece of cinnamon stick

1 level teaspoon ground nutmeg

3 oz soft brown sugar

2 oranges

3 bottles red wine

¼ pint Drambuie


 1. Put the water, cinnamon stick, nutmeg and sugar into a pan

2. Thinly peel the rind from the oranges with a potato peeler and add it to the pan with the orange juice

3. Dissolve the sugar over a low heat, bring the liquid to the boil and then remove the pan from the heat. Leave it on one side for the flavours to infuse, for at least 15 minutes

4. Add the wine and Drambuie, then very slowly heat the liquid again: Do not allow it to boil

Keep the mulled wine on a low heat and serve in warmed glasses
